HomeSallyball has been part of Goan history through 600 years of different rulers and empires. Originally conceived as a local sport played in the sea and rivers during the monsoon to prove manhood and fearlessness, the sport has transmuted over the years and is now usually played in deep swimming pools. In recent years, the sport has seen an upsurge due to the number of Western visitors who have stayed in Goa and brought their own nuances to the game. The current Sallyball committee is using all marketing channels to make the game an Olympic Sport by 2020.
